Collectables of the 70's
Do
you like to meander through the boot fairs looking for a bargain?
Enjoy a good rummage through other people’s bric-a-brac?
Well you might just be missing some bargains because some
of the old memorabilia of the seventies is now fast becoming
the hot collectables.
It’s
not just the obvious Silver Jubilee commemoratives either
that the clued up are seeking either. Collectors of nostalgia
are finding some gems from the seventies designers, ranging
from the Italian furniture stylists to the Scandinavian glass-makers
Kosta. The use of colour poured through all the fashionable
items from clothes and furniture, to glassware and ceramics.
In every
category there are collectables from Star Wars toys to movie
posters, books to records. Where there are collectors there
are collectibles and there are some very surprising items
to be found in your local boot fair.
For instance
did you know that ‘The World According to Garp’
by John Irving could fetch you a hundred quid? Or maybe that
Rocky 2 poster you have stashed in the attic could get you
a nice tidy £500.
Surprised?
I bet you are.
Well
the only thing that isn’t worth anything whatsoever
is the humble Chopper so if you have one tucked away in the
back of your garage give me a bell and I’ll come take
it off your hands because it’s not really worth up to
£500 if it’s in good nick.
Oh yes
indeedy from LED watches and calculators to comic annuals
and Fred, the Homepride Man, bargains are everywhere and the
best place to gauge what to look for is our good friend Ebay.
If people are bidding on it, you know it’s a collectable.
I lost out bidding on a game I used to play when I was younger
with a maximum bid of £30.00 only to find it complete
at a boot fair the following Sunday for £1.50. Was I
a happy bunny? You betcha!.
So what
are you waiting for go take a peek and see what little trinket
you can pick up this Sunday.
