Review by Noel Bailey
When they talk about 70's fashions... think BLACULA.
Kind of time 70s capsulish, this blaxploitation take on the Dracula
tale is a hoot. Marshall is excellent as Blacula the African
vampire whose bride was ripped off by Dracula during a visit
to his Transylvanian holiday home. (yeah right......don't
recall reading that in Bram Stoker's novel)
Love the
gay housepainters who revive the undead Blacula in downtown
LA. This always was black humour...afro humour if you will,
but they do it well. How many of you guys remember Ketty Lester?
yeah, she of that great hit yonks ago LOVE LETTERS? Well,
here she is guys as a cabbie...and things don't go too well
for her as it turns out.
BLACULA
is well worth a squiz...better by far than the sequel SCREAM
BLACULA SCREAM.
