Review by Theo Robertson

Clint Eastwood has had a very up and down career as a director. He made PLAY MISTY FOR ME which pre-empted the stalker thrillers of the late 80s early 90s and he deservedly won an Oscar for UNFORGIVEN, but just about every other Eastwood directed project is totally forgettable. This includes THE EIGER SANCTION.

Good points are: Jack Cassidy plays a former green berets Vietnam vet, who is presented as being camper than a row of pink tents. THE EIGER SANCTION is one of the very few films where a gay libber is portrayed as a villain. They don’t make them like this anymore.

George Kennedy has a couple of very good lines ("Lady go and get".... " Listen the only time you’ll touch this telescope is to ...") and delivers them with perfect timing.

Some showroom dummies fall to their deaths off a rock face. Don’t you just love revealing mistakes?

Bad points: Just about everything else
